How does a movie with John Malcovich, Robert Carlyle, and Jeremony Irons about dragons get to be bland and boring? I have no idea, but they managed to do it with the movie Eragon.
In what seems to be a current trend since Lord of the Rings, movie studios seem to think that fantasy movies, based on books will automatically do well. But here the part that was forgotten here was actually making a movie. Directed by Stefen Fangmeier, who according to imdb.com has done most of his work as visual effects supervisor, some how made it boring to have a dragon.
If you discovered a dragon living in your barn, would you be excited? or maybe scared? But in this movie it just seems easy and not much of an issue. Certainly nothing to get excited over.
On the subject of the dragon, named Saphira, how is it that a dragon can't hold three people? If a dragon can fly and easily hold one person, shouldn't holding 3 people be no problem? Such is life in the movie of Eragon.
Take a gander at the continuity gaffes over at imdb.com and the sloppiness of this movie becomes apparent. That sloppiness slips over into a lack of caring about character, story, and setting.
When it is boring to have dragons in your life, then that is a life you don't need to spend money to see.
